For centuries in West African tradition a Griot has been the storyteller of the village. Using word and song, the Griot shares the folklore and fables, beliefs and historical events that occur, and that have been passed down for generations. Through this, the community are able to preserve important aspects of their culture. They say that “If a Griot dies, it’s as if a library is burnt down”.

In a world of political correctness I would like to make it clear that this EP title, is in no way intentionally trying to reappropriate a culture for any benefit or suggesting that this music has any cultural significance. It is merely trying to bring light to and respect to a beautiful tradition while sharing music.
